FILE RESCUE

Before you use the tools.

File Rescue extracts readable content from supported damaged work files into a new file. Successful recovery and preservation of all original content are not guaranteed.

Supported tasks

The spreadsheet tool checks CSV and TSV text encoding and separators, then saves CSV or XLSX. It does not repair existing XLS or XLSX workbooks. The Word tool extracts readable DOCX body text to TXT; legacy DOC is unsupported. The Korean tool extracts supported HWP 5.x and HWPX body text to TXT. Encrypted, protected and unsupported structures are rejected.

Limits and reviewing results

Input files may be up to 20 MiB. Document body expansion and output are limited to 20 MiB with additional format-specific safeguards. CSV processing is limited to 50,000 rows, 200 columns and 200,000 cells. Available device memory and browser capabilities can prevent processing even within these limits.

Document layout, images, fonts and formatting are not restored. Unreadable sections and unsupported elements may be excluded. Passing structural checks does not establish that the recovered text matches the original. Keep the original and backups, and review recovered files before using them. The original is not changed.

Use and ownership

The tools are currently free. Only select files you have permission to process. File rights remain with you or the original rights holder; the site acquires no rights to them. Do not use the service to infringe others' rights or interfere with its operation.

File-type icons are original generic document illustrations, not Microsoft or Hancom logos. This is not an official or affiliated service of either company. Product names identify supported formats.
